In continuation of my application of the 8th June and toe
No. 183 of the lat August last.” I beg most respectfully
to ask that my salary be increased, it being out of all proportion:
for the performance of the onerous and responsible duties of
Superintendent af Mails. I would beg to point out that the Accountant
at this office, Who is a Eurasian: and a locally appointed a bas receatly been placed on a salary from £360 to £450 per annum while
I am in receipt of from. £300 to £345. This officer is junior to ne
having barely 20 years anile I oave nearly 25 years service,

I was engaged from the General Post Office London as an
>Examining Supervisor for the Post Office bere in January: 1902, but
in January 1904 was set to perform the duties of toe two Supervisors
with the title of Superintendent of Mails and with increased hours:

(8) I can now quite see that. I cannot receive promotion nere
without. interfering with the legitimate claims of Cadets but I do
most. boably beg to submit. that. it is bardly reasonable to expect.
tost I can be contented to remain bere without prospect of promotion
and in receipt. of a smaller salary than is being paid to Burasian: olerks and locally appoiated men in this: Department, who are junior to me in service and who can live here at a cheaper rate than an
Buropean.
